school applications

filled out the school application again this year to get sophia's school switched. last year we were denied and she was forced to attend a traditional calendar school about 7 miles from home. she's getting tired of riding the bus for 45 mins and i'm not impressed with the school's performance so we are trying for the better, year-round, much closer option.
if she gets in she will be on one of four tracks. most of the schools down here have converted to the track scheduling, as opposed to the traditional(summer offs schedule). if she gets into the year round school she will go 9 weeks and then have 3 weeks off continuing all year long. i'm not sure how i will like that schedule but most people are very happy with it. it would be like xmas break plus a week 4 times a year.
we'll see what happens.

Lessons on 2 wheeling

the pep talk... confidence boosting by dad

going (with some fear)

still going ("look at me boys over there")

gone!

an unfortunate crash shortly after resulted in lots of tears, a tiny (though largely perceived amont) of blood, and an early retirement for Sophia

thanks to John's persistance she was back on the bike a couple hours later and did great. She's really impressing us with her will to learn! It only took her a few mins. to get it, amazing how fast kids catch on.

Fashion statement

The girls are obsessed with dressing up! This particular day they raided my closet, got into their grandmother's makeup and jewelry, my photography dress up box and came out with this look. Quite stylish huh? Sophia even convinced me to take her out in this outfit. I'm sure we got some interesting looks. She's a little too hot for a 5yr old!

Happy Valentines Day

Hope everyone has a sweet day today! just posting a few shots I took of Logann before her preschool party yesterday. Of course me and my good planning, camera died soon after this shot so no good photos of the party but it was fun! And between the two girls we now have lots of candy in the house!

been playing around with photoshop. figured out this retro action. i kinda like it(photo above)

Update on K question

just wanted to let you all know that Sophia's teacher responded to my question about there being 54 letters in the alphabet. She had commented that Sophia could recognize 53/54 letter. That totally stumped me. In her response she stated she was counting all lower and uppercase (I got that far), but in addition she was counting the little a and t with the curly tails??? kinda the way it looks typed not the straight line standard a and t. is that not the strangest thing you've ever heard. since when are we teaching kids to recognize modern ways to write letters. Weren't you always graded on the ability to write the proper form of the letters?
Anyway I just wanted to let you know for those that answered my post.

let the good times roll

so exactly 50 mins. ago. my sweet husband took the girls off my hands for the next 24hrs. he is driving them 3 hours to the mountains to go snow tubing tomorrow. i am so impressed he is doing this and grateful for the peace and quiet i am now experiencing. i am praying more than ever that all goes well as you all know my girls are not the biggest fans of the snow and just a tad bit wimpy and fearful.
please let everyone have fun up there in the mountains. my mom and a friend and I are going out for some R&R.
thank goodness for daddies and there ideas!i so needed this time to myself

why

is there so much damn drama with kids? drama over everything, its exhausting and enough to drive anyone to drink.
hope your households were peaceful tonight. there had to be a full moon sitting over mine tonight. had to be!

can you answer this

ok all you teachers and K alums, I have a question for you.... How many letters are there in the alphabet count both lower and uppercase? And how many sounds are there? Sophia's teacher has completely stumped me with a comment on her report card. Even her explanation didn't make sense to me or my mother(a former teacher).
lets see who's smarter than a 5 yr old? someone help me figure out what the hell this Southern belle is talking about, maybe it has to do with that accent of hers, ouch, I'm kinda mean tonight. No offense Mrs.Melissa Paige Lineberry King (yes that is the name she goes by) I do think you are a saint for what you do.
answers please.

boys/girls

Logann was watching Dora today (she hasn't watched it in awhile, I forget how annoying the show is!) Anyway on the episode Dora's parents bring home twins (one boy, one girl). Logann made me laugh when she said "look mommy Dora's parents have two babies, her mommy had the girl baby and her Daddy had the boy baby."
How cool would that be! Maybe John would be up for having that 3rd child (boy) after all? Its so interesting how little minds think.

Its finally arrived!

My Snuggies have finally arrived! After watching days upon days of Snuggie commercials, the girls insisted on buying me one for my birthday. I'm not quite sure why as I very rarely lounge on the couch but whatever. John ordered it the first week of January and it just arrived today! The girls have been looking in the mailbox everyday since he placed the order. I got a kick out of this as they obviously didn't realize it wouldn't fit in the mailbox : )
So here's me modeling the new thing, a.k.a piece of crap, thin fleece blanket with arm holes and an open back like a hospital gown. I give the makers credit for the marketing they did though, they sold the concept to millions of people. To us they even sold 2!
Now that they have arrived I actually think the girls are more excited about the flip reading light that came along with it. Another piece of crap. So in conclusion the thing isn't all that warm nor is flattering as its gigantic and makes you look like a whale. But it is a funny concept and we all got a good laugh over here
no i am not pregnant nor is my belly really that huge! maybe i should have gotten the black one i'm sure its much more slimming

notice the "cool" flip light attached to my book
